The Village Gallery is kicking off the new year with the help of two of our January features, Christine Reimer and Lailo Thompson.
Coming from Belize, Dorrien Thompson (Lailo) grew up appreciating the culture, customs, and foods of local ethnic groups, as well as the diversity of the local nature. This appreciation can be found in Lailo's work, where he draws inspiration from all of the colours and forms that nature has to offer. Lailo will be bringing us four acrylic spin paintings for January 15th. To learn more about the process behind spin paintings, a video is available to view on Lailo's website here: http://artbylailo.com/spin-art-demonstration/
Christine Reimer, who has a number of landscape pieces currently in the gallery, will be bringing us several abstract originals for her January showing. Two of these pieces, "Wisteria" and "Strange Elixir" pictured below, will bring a splash of colour and abstraction to the gallery to start off our first showing of 2019!
Finally, helping to tie the show together will be new glassworks from Doroni Lang. All of our features are expected to arrive by January 15th when our holiday show ends.
We are looking forward to welcoming 2019 with our very talented artists and, as always, we encourage everyone to come view the show and begin the new year by browsing some excellent local art!
